Carlito Calcaño

Biography

I am Carlito Calcaño. professor of Bachata Authentic Dominican Bachata. soy from a DR field called El Limón de Samaná near Las Terrenas. In that town I didn’t know what the discipline of dance was. I danced very well, but with a street style and no real education in dancing. One day, a dance teacher named Simon Bolivar saw me dancing and took me to his school where I was learning with him for about 2 years. With him, I learned to teach professionally and learned other genres such as Salsa. That was 16 years ago now.

Then I met another teacher called Pipo la salsa. They are the founders of Bachata Auténtica in Las Terrenas. From there, I spent 3 years in the dance world and we were invited to an Authentic Bachata festival organized by Vesa Parkkari. He is an ambassador of Bachata Auténtica and he organized about 12 festivals. I participated in 11 of their festivals called DR festival.

He then continued to participate in other festivals in the DR and from there he began to travel. I went to Italy, worked there for a while, and then to Moscow, Russia. In Russia I participated in more or less 8 festivals of Authentic Dominican Bachata. To this day, I am giving the best I can of Bachata Auténtica and other dances. That is, until God wills it.
